• Here are some highly enjoyable illustrated Martin Luther insults by Peter Mann, including such timeless classics as, “You stink like devilish filth flung into Germany” and “You are like mouse-droppings in the pepper.”

WBEZ reported earlier this month that only one quarter of the Chicago Public School system’s $423 million budget would be spent at just three schools. “In a system with hundreds of school buildings, the lucky three schools are all selective enrollment high schools on the North Side. They’re getting 23 percent of this year’s capital budget.”

• The September 11th museum gift shop sounds pretty gross. The selection goes far beyond the expected FDNY logo apparel, as the New York Post’s Susan Edelmanreported; one souvenir for sale is a pair of “‘Survivor Tree’ earrings, named after a pear tree that stood in the World Trade Center plaza and survived 9/11. Made of bronze and freshwater pearls, a pair costs $64. A leaf ornament molded from the swamp white oaks at the memorial is said to change from amber to dark brown ‘and sometimes pink around the time of the 9/11 anniversary.’”
