• Today in Billionaires: venture capitalist Timothy Draper has been “agitating for months” for a ballot initiative to break California into six separate states, Reuters reports, adding that “the plan has raised bipartisan hackles.” Under Draper’s scheme, Silicon Valley and San Francisco, of course, would together comprise one of the states, which would be called “Silicon Valley.”

• South Africa’s largest labor union, comprised of about 200,000 engineers and metal workers, have been on strike for two weeks now.
