Eric Cantor

• What’s next for Eric Cantor? He announced on Wednesday that he’s stepping down as House Majority Leader after a surprising (or not-so-surprising?) upset in the Virginia primaries this week. Tell us what you think Cantor’s next gig will be by writing to us on Twitter with the hashtag #CantorsNextGig or by leaving a comment on our Facebook page. The guess that comes the closest (or maybe just the one we like the most) will get a free subscription to The Baffler.

• Transit workers in Sao Paulo threatened to strike again this week, to protest some of their members having been fired during a previous strike, just as the World Cup kicked off in Brazil. “The subway strike was the latest unrest to hit Brazil in the run-up to the World Cup,” reports the AP. “Teachers remain on strike in Rio and routinely block streets with rallies. Police in several cities have gone on strike, but are back at work now.”
