Daily Bafflements

• Over at VICE, Baffler contributing editor Eugenia Williamson—who recently wrote about the commercialization of punk for issue no. 29bravely traveled to the Newark Airport to check out Terminal C’s latest installment, CBGB LAB. No, Newark hasn’t revived the seminal punk club. In addition to the vibe “of an upscale, vaguely edgy hair salon,” CBGB LAB does have chili, just like its Bowery ancestor, and a graffitied piano of mysterious origin. In other words, it’s shit—but at least the bathrooms are cleaner (?).

• Wired has named Baffler senior editor Chris Lehmann’s bookThe Money Cult: Capitalism, Christianity, and the Unmaking of the American Dream one of the most promising books of 2016. Thanks, Wired! Mark your calendars and be sure to grab a copy when it’s released on May 17.
