Daily Bafflements

• Today in catering (badly) to Millennials: Whole Foods is opening a new chain of stores targeting Millennial customers. The new “365” stores will be “fun and convenient,” according to 365 division president Jeff Turnas, and will offer all the pretension of Whole Foods at slightly lower prices.

• The Minneapolis Fed is searching for a new president, one who’ll be a “strategic thought leader” in economic policy. If you, too, are feeling a shortage of thought leaders in your life, there’s always Maureen Tkacik’s Baffler no. 19 salvo on The Atlantic’s foray into the muddy waters of professional thought leadership, or the 2015 Best Outsourcing Thought Leadership Awards, won this year by IT company Wipro Ltd. for “its innovative work titled ‘Semantics and Ontology – The Future of Data Aggregation.’”

• And finally, today in elites: Uber-style apps are being developed to provide cheap, on-demand private jet service to the C-suite crowd. We’d hate to see what their surge pricing looks like.
